It starts very well
New York Fairy Tale Written by Jem Finer, Shane McGowan The Pogues & Kirsty McCall. It’s one of those generic entertainers where you can’t fault the acting and the production values are mostly flawless. You think you’re about to be absorbed and seduced into a complex espionage thriller.
But John Le Carre is not
Instead you soon realize that it is neither serious nor funny. As is often the case these days, the story has a bit of a problem. It has quirky characters and of course all the charm and conversation one would expect from a psychopath.
Sadly, that might actually be a good thing
They may be related to Killing Eve, but these are poor cousins and don’t really add up well on the scale of DNA psychopathic inheritance. It’s a caricature of a spy thriller with a thin plot and a storyline that relies on constant action scenes to fill space.
